Joint Congregational Meeting 9/12/2010
TO: The Members of the Congregations of First Presbyterian Church and West Presbyterian Church
The sessions of First and West Presbyterian Churches have called a special Congregational Meeting of both congregations for Sunday, September 12, 2010 immediately following worship, in the Fellowship Hall of First Presbyterian Church.
The purpose of the meeting is to vote on the following motion:
Be it resolved that:
- The First Presbyterian Church of Binghamton and the West Presbyterian Church of Binghamton petition the Presbytery of Susquehanna Valley to merge the two congregations into one congregation. This merger shall be consummated no later than September 30, 2011.
- The name of the merged church shall be: Name provided after congregational voting concludes on August 29.
- The Vision Statement dated July 12, 2010 shall be approved as the Vision Statement for the merged congregation.
- The Joint Sessions shall proceed to bring recommendations to the congregations concerning:
a. Building Use – Target date October 17, 2010
b. Bylaws – As soon as feasible
c. Staff – As soon as feasible
d. Policies and procedures – As soon as feasible
e. Financial integration – As soon as feasible
